Start of the 2025 Great Summer Road Tripp

Actual route of the Great Summer Road Trip of 2025

May 8 2025  Thursday

After the usual flurry of activity, departure day is here for the Great Summer Road Trip of 2025. When you’re going to leave your home for an extended period it takes some advance planning. The house for must be set up to operate in your absence. The RV and the truck must have all maintenance up to date. All medical appointments should have been finished or rescheduled. I ran right up to the last day with dental and eye issues. Then there’s packing everything you think you need in the RV. We brought the RV over to the house a day ahead to make the process a little smoother.

On Thursday May the 8th we hooked the silver bullet to the RV and drove away, confident that everything on the home front would be ok while we were gone. The RV and the truck were all prepped and ready, or so we thought. More about our truck repairs later.

Out here on the coast we’re kind of isolated by several river systems with only a couple routes in or out so long-time followers will recognize our route, 544 to Conway and 378 west to Columbia. From there we took I-20 southwest into Georgia and our first overnight stop.

Two hundred and fifty miles from home is a Georgia state park, not too far off I-20, near Greensboro Georgia. We stayed in site 13 at Parks Ferry Campground.
